It’s getting really fuckin’ hot out already…

Guess that’s the little body crippler saying we need to start moving our asses if we want to stay comfortable during a hot season.

I will never understand the fire-type trainers and how they even cope during times like these.

Wow, I guess this shit feeling is wanderlust.

It’s been a hell of a long time since I’ve been out and roaming in a place I haven’t seen before and just being able to do it once more instilled this horrible toxin that just wears you down until you get out again.

There are plenty of places I haven’t been but the biggest question is probably where to. Might as well try the rest of Sinnoh, since Hoenn was hot as hell itself.

Heh, might as well catch up with all the folk around the place as well.

But first there’s still a few things I need to attend to here…

It’s almost a bit funny how the times can change so fast.

Look you have people pushing forward into careers already.

Even me.

I’m starting to have second thoughts about this, though… Shit what am I letting myself get into by acquiescing to this? No good, that’s for sure, but I guess that’s part of this whole convoluted thing. Never thought I’d be seeing Hoenn again so soon. Haven’t even gotten to visit Sinnoh again.

Well I’m sure this is going to take me to… interesting places regardless.

“Ah no, I wasn’t…” Crystal shrugged as she rested back unto the couch. “I lived in the lab, then the Pokemon Center here until I found this apartment. I was lucky—extremely so—to find it. I’d probably still be homeless if I didn’t. Castelia is big, but densely populated.”

She sighed after saying that, not wanting to dwell on such a heavy thought. She acquired the apartment, she can make pays with little to no problems, that’s what mattered.

But she smiled. “That’s why it’s fantastic. The fact that it feels so surreal—but it’s real! I go there, I can study; it’s just not a dream anymore! It’s real…” Her voice was nearing breathless, but she caught herself, and how ridiculous she was reacting. She chuckled nervously and composed herself.

“No, it’s not easy, that’s for sure. Even I can admit, I get exhausted. I have to study, I have training, I have yet to complete the Unova dex, I like to see Ruby or Cheren from time to time, and work.” She looked at him with tired eyes, but she gave him a smirk full of life. ”However, I am not a quitter—you know this.”

“And how I know this better than most. Hah. I think you could lose a leg and keep running full speed just to prove those who say you couldn’t do it wrong. Achievement is… good, I suppose.”

He flicked his thumbs past each other, moving to rest his elbows on his thighs. “Ruby and Cheren? I can’t say I know the two very well… if at all. Well at least you won’t need me around, eh? But no one can really replace me.” He chuckled at his statement, one mocking himself more than glorifying himself. Stubborn, calculating, frigid… yep he sure was a character.

“I guess maybe it’s high time I do something with myself. League days get boring when it’s the same faces trying to come up to you for a rematch and failing. Miserably. Several times.  Mountain training gets tedious too. Well since I finished my Hoenn run, maybe I should hit Sinnoh. Eh.”

Intern. Her thoughts didn’t bother to come up with a defense against his obvious skepticism towards fine, or any sort of appreciation towards his praise over her apartment. Her mind was stuck on that one word alone.

Did she not tell him that she was studying now?

“Ah, intern, right. Silver, though, didn’t I ever tell you…?” Her voice drifted slightly, and she wasn’t sure why. She brushed some hair behind her ear, looking at him with a bit of an awkward smile. “I’m not an intern anymore. Juniper dropped me back in October. I’ve been studying in Castelia University since last month, actually.”

Crystal let out a small laugh, her awkward smile now genuine and sincere. “I um. I’m studying in biology, primarily. Although it’s very useful for a path towards becoming a Pokemon professor. I’m also taking other courses too—Chemistry, Italian, others. It’s… It’s not easy but, I never thought I’d get this opportunity, you know?” She bit her lip before folding her hands onto her lap nervously. “It’s fantastic…”

“No I’m positive that’s something you hadn’t relayed to me. I haven’t exactly been the easiest to get a hold of the past few months, though. Studying biology then. Either way, you were living here, weren’t you? Doesn’t change that.”

He clasped his hands together between his knees, hanging his head and shaking it a bit. “Well, shit, then.” He looked up at Crystal, biting her lip. Some habits never changed, he supposed.

“It’s almost a bit surreal. Everyone is on their fucking way now. However, just because it’s great doesn’t mean it’s not taking it’s toll. Hell, I hardly remember being placed in a class, being driven to study and write against my will. Feh, that kind of learning was a complete mess for me, but that’s just me. Don’t tire yourself out though. Pace it so you don’t lose track of your goals and quit running before you reach the end.”
